Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo announced charges against Christopher Still, a former police officer for the Halifax Borough Police Department, in a news release Thursday. Still is accused of stealing money and guns from the department between 2019 and 2022, when he was employed as an officer.

Prosecutors said Still submitted fraudulent time cards to the Halifax Borough Police Department for hours he never worked, and while he was also working as a full-time officer for the Marysville Police Department, PennLive reported.

Investigators said that despite logging timecards for pay totaling $98,754.50, Still made no arrests, issued no citations and rarely logged into the police department’s record system, WGAL reported.

Prosecutors said that after learning about the fraudulent time cards, the Criminal Investigation Division did an inventory of the evidence room at the Halifax Borough Police Department and determined that three firearms were missing. Detectives said Still admitted to taking the missing weapons and said that he sold them to a gun shop for $500, prosecutors said in the news release. Police recovered two of the guns from the gun shop.

Prosecutors said a Winchester .243 rifle is missing and detectives are working to recover it.

Still was charged with theft and receiving stolen property, WHTM reported. He is due in court Dec. 13.
