Police: Grandmother arrested after toddler found dead in a trash can in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY — A grandmother in Oklahoma was arrested after a 3-year-old toddler was found dead in a trash can.

According to KOKI, Oklahoma City police were called out to a house around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday for an unknown issue. When officers arrived at the house, they found a 3-year-old girl’s body in a trash can.

OCPD identified the girl later as Riley Nolan. In a news release from police, they said the toddler had obvious signs of trauma. Police learned that the grandmother, Becky Vreeland, recently got custody of Riley.

Vreeland was arrested and booked on recommended charges of child neglect and first-degree murder, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office inmate database.
