Michael Aldrich was operating West Funeral Home in August when police said he was contacted by a family for services and a cremation, WPXI reported.

The family tried to cancel the services after finding another funeral home, but were told the cremation had already been done, according to a complaint obtained by WPXI.

Days later, a third party went to pick up the remains and found the body had not been cremated. Instead, it was badly decomposed after being left unrefrigerated, WPXI reported. Pennsylvania law requires a dead body to be embalmed, placed in a sealed casket or refrigerated if final disposition does not occur within 24 hours.
