4-year-old girl dies after falling over 7th-floor railing at South Carolina hotel, officials say

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A 4-year-old girl is dead after she fell over a seventh-floor railing at a hotel in South Carolina, authorities said.

According to WIS and WYFF, the incident occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday at an Embassy Suites in Columbia. Officials identified the victim as Maiya Caughman, the 4-year-old daughter of a hotel employee, WIS reported.

Columbia police said foul play is not suspected in the girl’s death, according to WYFF.
